Nutrition plays an important role in neuroscience. Patients with neurological diseases are at increased risk of micro-nutrient deficiency and dehydration. Multiple causes for the development of malnutrition in patients with neurological disease are known including oropharyngeal dysphagia, impaired consciousness, perception deficits, cognitive dysfunction and increased needs.
